Discover Life, Lore & Legends in the Thousand Islands

nhance your trip to the 1000 Islands with a visit to
Photo of the Centrethe Heritage Museum located adjacent to the Gananoque Boatline on the shores of the St. Lawrence River. The Museum provides the visitor with an inviting setting to reflect on the history of the area. The building is reminiscent of the original islands cottages and fabulous hotels that were built during the Golden Era.

In the spacious high ceiling exhibit areas, visitors will find dioramas, videos and interactive displays designed to educate and entertain.

Explore the history of the War of 1812, Regional Geography and Wildlife, Plying The River, and First Nations. The Heritage Museum also displays travelling exhibits.

After a guided or self-guided tour, take a short climb to our lookout tower to view the magnificent St. Lawrence River and the Admiralty Group of Islands. Remember your visit with a gift or souvenir from our Canadiana Gift Shop.
